Alright, so you live in NYC. You can probably barely afford your rent as it is. But did you know that nearly one in four New Yorkers live in poverty (that's 2 million people!)? This website allows you to search and filter volunteer opportunities across all five boroughs.
Looking for volunteering resources outside of NYC? Maybe you just want to get out of the house and touch grass without travelling to the city. This site has listings for hundreds of volunteer opportunities across Westchester, Putnam, and Rockland counties.
Consider reaching out to your local chamber of commerce, non-profits or charity organizations (e.g., food pantries, shelters), pride organizations, community centers, or faith-based organizations. There’s always people in need of help, so stop doomscrolling and get out there!

Make the Road is the largest progressive grassroots immigrant-led organization in New York. They're out there organizing for a bunch of different issues, including workers rights, environmental and housing justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and more.
